Nicky Phear Scholarship for Climate Leadership

The Nicky Phear Scholarship for Climate Leadership and Inner Development is awarded to students who are actively practicing or considering inner development as it relates to their growth as climate change leaders. Applicants do not need to have any demonstrated instruction or documented experience in this area. Applicants will be evaluated based on their ability to illustrate how and where they find inspiration and purpose, how they grapple with inner conflict and questions, and how they feel inner development does, or will, play an important role in their growth as leaders.
Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee within the DHC. Up to five awards will be granted, in amounts of $1000 or more, to be disbursed in the fall semester. Awardees are invited to a retreat in the fall, hosted by donor and former CCS Director, Dr. Nicky Phear.
In a roughly 500-word essay, discuss:
- Two or three role models, experiences, or ongoing practices that challenge you to focus on your own inner development, and
- How this inner development informs, or could inform, your capacity as a climate change leader
